Can Bad Hair Day be Avoided in the First Place?

What to do with a bad hair day?

The answer is half yes. While bad hair days could not be completely avoided, you can still reduce the odds by getting the following jobs done beforehand.

  • Dry your Hair Thoroughly before Sleep

“Dry your hair before sleep or you’ll get illness when you’re old!”
You probably grow up hearing this word from your mom or grandmother, which remains to be proven.
However, not drying your hair completely before sleep could be a real mishap to your morning hair. Because water breaks the hydrogen bonds in the hair and allows it to be rearranged easily. It means that you’re actually shaping your hair with your eyes closed.
Tips: Blow drying hair from the top down helps to avoid frizzy hair in the morning.

  • Apply Dry Shampoo the Night Before
If you are too lazy to wash your hair for a few nights, chances are great that you wake up with oily hair, which could be very embarrassing for both work and school occasions. But don’t worry! There's a great thing called dry shampoo in this world!
Applying it to the hair root at night instead of morning could keep your hair from greasy and make it more natural and voluminous!

  • Run a Humidifier in the Bedroom

You may wonder how can a bed head has something to do with a humidifier! It’s actually relevant because when the air is dry, your hair dries out as well. Running a humidifier during bedtime can add external moisture into the air, helping to reduce hair breakage and ensure itch-free hair.
Tips:
-Pick the humidifier with optional mist spray mode and time set to ensure your hair is not over-moisturized.
-Humidifier with built-in auto shut-off function is recommended for the safe use during bedtime.
-Some humidifiers also combine the functions of oil diffuser. Pick 2 in 1 product to save extra space for the essential oil diffuser.

  • Try Silk or Satin Pillowcases
Friction between the hair and pillow is one of the key factors causing bed head. If you’re sleeping on cotton pillowcases, try silk or satin ones which have smoother contact with your hair.

How to Fix Morning Hair without Washing it?

While washing your hair in the morning is an effective way to get rid of bed hair, it’s normally unrealistic to do so on a daily basis. Besides, excessive wash of hair will lead to the loss of oils that naturally keep the hair moisture and manageable. In other words, washing your hair too much may cause more bad hair days. It’s actually a vicious circle!
Fortunately, morning hair could still be tamed and styled in quick ways without washing. Try the following bed head solutions for both curly and straight hair!

  • For Short Natural Curls

If you get short and thick natural curls, you’re likely to wake up with your hair sticking up. But it isn’t that nightmare. A few simple steps can get it fixed.
-Spray the hair (especially the root) damp with a bottle of water.
-Remove the knots and tangles with a wide-tooth comb. It’s recommended to start from the end instead of the root.
-Wrap a scarf around your head and now you get a casual and stylish pineapple hairstyle.
Or if you're in a mood to wear straight hair, try a straightening brush.

  • For Medium or Long Length Curls
If you have medium and long thick curls, fighting frizzy hair by straightening it may become your morning routine. But who says curly girls can’t live without a iron flat? A straightening comb will get the job done in a more time-saving manner. With a flat iron, hair requires to be carefully combed before pressing. But with a straightening brush, you’re combing the hair and straightening it at the same time!
Tips: If time is really limited, you can section your hair into 2 half. Simply straighten the bottom half and secure the top half with an elastic band.

  • For Delicate Waves

While wavy hair is easier to deal with, you may still be discouraged to find that the curls don't shape well after sleep. Save your busy morning for iron-curling work and substitute with velcro rollers! Just divide your hair into sections, secure each with velcro rollers while you’re brushing your teeth and putting on makeup. Then apply some styling mousse after unrolling them and you get elegantly shaped curls!

  • For Straight hair
While curly girls complain that their hair is not straight enough, girls with fine and thin straight hair may get annoyed with their over-straight hair. But straight hair doesn’t mean to be boring and flat! The following easy fixes are just perfect to add some differences to your straight hair in your rushed morning.

Straighten the hair end
A disheartening fact for straight hair especially shoulder length one could be waking up with misbehaved hair end.
If your hair is the stubborn kind, even combing it with a wet brush may not work in most cases. Then why not give straightening brush a shot? It gets heat only in a few minutes. Unlike a flat iron which may straight your hair too much and make it look thin and flat, a hair straightening comb will leave some amount of body to your hair and give it a more natural look.

Add Volume to Straight Hair
If you wash your hair the night before, braiding and blow-drying it with your head upside down is a good way to make your hair look bouncier. But you can also add volume to your hair in the morning without washing. Simply use a teasing comb to brush the underside of your hair and hold on that volume with hairspray.

Try Quick Hairstyles
If you’re lucky to have easy-to-fix hair and get extra time for hair styling, try the following easy-to-do hairstyles to make your straight hair look chic!

Side Twist and Pin

Section a small piece of hair from one side and twist it. Secure it with a bobby pin placed diagonally and another to create the X-shape.

Simple Forehead Twist

Take a triangle of hair from your forehead. Twist it, flip it over and secure it with bobby pins.

The Headband Tuck

Secure the hair into a ponytail. Place a string or a ribbon over your hairline and tie it at the nape and over the pony.

Now, with all these time saved for hair fixing and styling in the morning, you can get more time to be a sleep beauty and finish your sweet dreams!
